Green Deal Energy Saving Assessments Scotland

Energy Saving Green Deal Advisers Scotland

Solar power and renewable energy options that are available for the Scotland Green Deal includes heat pumps and solar panels for generating electricity. Assessment of the domestic home will include an initial survey and will consider previous recommendations made (if available) from an energy certificate. The homeowner must meet the criteria of the 'Golden Rule' of the plan which must demonstrate that the energy saving measures provided in terms of improvement costs will not exceed the savings made through the consumers energy meter.

Registered Installers, Advisers and Providers can provide a free no obligation quote for energy assessments and energy efficiency measures under the scheme.

Many members of the public are unaware of the developments surrounding the Government's plans for the introduction of the scheme; increased awareness will surely be raised when announcements are made in the media. The Government is to launch a campaign initiative on TV and other media public relations sources to heighten awareness for households that have not yet adopted the plan. The Green Deal Forum can provide answers to frequently asked questions about the scheme. It is estimated that around 24 million homes will be affected by these improvements. In the days of escalating utility prices for gas and electricity it is anticipated that the public will grab the opportunity to lower their fuel bills. The scheme is aimed at improving the energy efficiency of the housing stock in Britain. For domestic homes a series of measures will be made available through an adviser who will determine if the homeowner will be entitled to home loft insulation, or cavity wall insulation, and in the case of solid wall construction external wall insulation. Other improvements will include a replacement Grade A rated condensing central heating boiler if the existing boiler has a 'G' rating. In addition, poorly constructed doors with no insulation evident will be replaced by insulated external doors.

Green Deal Affiliates Scheme
Domestic energy assessors will require retraining to undertake the role as an adviser. It is expected that the big six utility companies will have extensive involvement in the roll-out of the plan. Smaller businesses also have the opportunity to get involved particularly on a local level. With the prospect of the installation of new heating systems, insulation materials and solar power this initiative will provide a major boost for the UK construction business. The scheme will officially be launched at the beginning of October 2012. For further information about the installation of solar panels www.uksolargreendeal.co.uk.

A provider is an agent that can provide the funding for the improvements of a home at no cost to the customer. Homeowners will be presented with a list of potential improvements for the domestic home for which they must provide their consent for the work to be carried out. Houses that already have good insulation properties may have the option to apply for a solar energy solution including renewable energy micro-generation. It is estimated that the plan will take some 10 years to complete overall, which will mean a significant boost for local installation companies participating in the scheme. Find out about other articles and news in the Green Deal press release.

An existing Scotland Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) can be used by the adviser to provide recommendations for energy efficiency measures as part of the assessment. A registered domestic or commercial advisor can also provide a new certificate if required.
